Overview:
The Axel Group is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer for our client's team. This esteemed engineering firm, with over 50 years of experience and a strong presence in Florida, is looking for an engineer to support transportation projects in Miami, Florida. This opportunity is ideal for professionals with 2 to 5 years of roadway design experience who are eager to take on more complex responsibilities and grow within a well-established organization.

Responsibilities:

• Develop horizontal and vertical roadway alignments for roadway widenings, intersection improvements, and new roadway projects
• Prepare detailed plan sets, quantities, and construction cost estimates
• Apply FDOT standards, AASHTO Green Book, and MUTCD guidelines in design development
• Assist with signing, pavement marking, and traffic control plans
• Utilize OpenRoads Designer (ORD) to produce design plans and 3D models
• Collaborate with internal teams (traffic, drainage, structural) to support overall project delivery
• Contribute to project schedules, documentation, and quality control reviews

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• 2–5 years of roadway design experience
• Engineer Intern (EI) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) certification is a plus
• Experience with FDOT standards and procedures preferred
• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) or similar design software a plus
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively

Compensation:

• Salary Range: $72,000 – $102,000 (commensurate with experience)
