The Axel Group is seeking an experienced Construction Administrator to join our client’s team out of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The Construction Administrator will play a key role in supporting projects throughout the construction phase, working closely with project teams, contractors, clients, and consultants. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in the field, proactive in addressing construction-related challenges, and highly organized when managing project documentation and priorities. Strong communication skills and attention to detail will be essential to ensuring projects are delivered successfully and in accordance with design intent and contract requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Lead construction administration activities from project start through closeout.
- Review and manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and other construction documentation.
- Conduct site visits and observations to monitor progress and adherence to design intent.
- Work closely with owners, contractors, consultants, architects, engineers, and interior designers.
- Maintain project logs, correspondence, and other construction records.
- Review contractor payment applications and evaluate work progress.
- Assist with identifying and resolving construction-related issues in a timely manner.
- Utilize construction administration/project management software such as Newforma, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
- Participate in construction meetings, site visits, and client discussions.
- Ensure project documentation and communication remain accurate and up to date.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Architecture, Building Construction, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred
- 3 – 5+ years of experience overseeing design and construction initiatives
- Experience with commercial, healthcare, senior living, education, government, multifamily, or institutional projects preferred
- Strong understanding of construction methods, specifications, and contract administration, including AIA documents
- Comfortable working directly with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal project teams
- Experience with Newforma, Bluebeam, or similar software is preferred
- Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel regularly for project site visits and construction meetings
- CCCA (Certified Construction Contract Administrator) certification is a plus
