Overview:
The Axel Group is seeking a CAD Technician / Residential Drafter for our client's team in Wesley Chapel and Jacksonville, FL . This company is a reputable custom home builder specializing in high-end luxury residential projects. The position involves supporting the preparation, customization, permitting, and production of detailed residential home plans. Responsibilities:

• Maintain, organize, and update master residential plans and CAD files.
• Produce accurate construction documents for production and custom homes.
• Create lot-specific plan drawings based on customer options, selections, and field conditions.
• Perform plan revisions and customizations while ensuring standards, code compliance, and constructability.
• Prepare and maintain drawings in formats such as DWF, DWG, and PDF for review, printing, and permitting.
• Keep accurate records of all plan revisions, details, and document updates.
• Coordinate with the permitting department to provide complete and accurate documents and assist with plan review revisions.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Development teams to create and update lot-fit matrices.
• Support sales with custom home-design requests within established standards.
• Assist with basic 3D modeling and rendering when needed.
• Use spreadsheets and PDF markup tools to organize project information and document changes.
• Follow CAD department standards, procedures, and quality control processes.
• Work effectively with internal and external drafting teams, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
• Apply knowledge of Florida Building Code requirements to residential construction documents.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of residential drafting experience, including custom-home or residential architectural projects.
• High proficiency in AutoCAD, with experience in AutoCAD 2019 preferred.
• Proven experience producing various residential construction documents, including plans, elevations, details, and revisions.
• Experience handling customer-driven plan customizations and revisions.
• Working knowledge of residential construction methods and terminology.
• Familiarity with current Florida Building Code requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Ability to work with plan formats such as PDF, DWF, DWG.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to work in the office full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree or technical degree in drafting, architecture, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with luxury or semi-custom residential projects.
• Basic knowledge of 3D modeling and rendering.
• Experience preparing documents for residential permits.
• Familiarity with lot-fit analysis and site-specific plan modifications.
• Interest in developing broader project coordination and client-facing responsibilities.

Skills Assessment Process:
Candidates will complete a practical AutoCAD assessment (about one hour) and a written communication test (about 30 minutes). The total process will take no longer than two hours and aims to evaluate drafting accuracy, plan reading, AutoCAD proficiency, and organizational skills.

Compensation:
Target hourly rate of $30–$40, equating to an annual salary of approximately $62,400–$83,200, depending on experience and skill level. Overtime may be available based on workflow needs.
