The Axel Group is seeking a Quality Assurance Associate for our client's team. This is an on-site contract position, with the anticipation of being brought on full-time after the completion of a successful assignment. This role supports a fast-paced fabrication/manufacturing environment where precision, consistency, and attention to detail directly impact what gets delivered to customers. The QA Associate will be responsible for inspecting fabricated products, confirming materials match drawings and order requirements, documenting any nonconformances, and working closely with fabrication, warehouse, shipping, and project teams to resolve issues before product leaves the facility. Responsibilities
Inspect fabricated products for dimensions, hole locations, cuts, welds, finishes, and overall workmanship
Read blueprints, shop drawings, and cut lists to confirm completed products match what was ordered
Perform in-process and final inspections prior to packaging/shipping
Use measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, gauges, squares) to confirm quality standards
Identify and document non-conforming material or fabrication errors
Partner with fabrication teams and supervisors to correct quality issues before shipment
Verify incoming materials meet specifications and are not damaged
Maintain inspection records, QA checklists, and job documentation
Assist in investigating customer complaints/returns or incorrectly fabricated materials to determine root cause
Ensure products are properly labeled, packaged, and matched to the correct project/order
Support quality procedures and continuous improvement efforts (especially recurring fabrication/shipping errors)
Coordinate with Project Managers, fabrication, warehouse, and shipping teams to ensure accurate deliveries
Requirements
Experience inspecting fabrication or manufacturing products (construction-related experience preferred)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and cut lists
Proficiency using basic measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, gauges, squares)
Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
Able to collaborate cross-functionally to resolve quality issues
Exposure to quality control procedures and continuous improvement is a plus
Compensation
$50,000–$60,000/year (based on experience)
