Assistant Project Manager
The Axel Group is partnered with a well-established, family-owned design-build contractor with over 90 years of experience delivering high-quality industrial and commercial projects throughout New Jersey. Their integrated approach allows them to manage every phase of a project, from planning and design through construction and closeout, providing clients with a seamless building experience.
As their portfolio continues to grow, they are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their Design-Build Division. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional looking to develop their career while working alongside experienced project managers on large-scale industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, and distribution projects.
 
Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with the successful execution of multiple ground-up construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Coordinate RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and project documentation.
  • Track project schedules, budgets, procurement, and subcontractor progress.
  • Participate in project meetings with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Assist with contract administration, change orders, pay applications, and cost tracking.
  • Coordinate material procurement and delivery schedules.
  • Support quality control and ensure project documentation is maintained accurately.
  • Monitor project milestones and proactively identify potential issues before they impact schedule or budget.
  • Assist with project closeout, punch lists, turnover documentation, and warranty items.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and field teams.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–4 years of experience with a general contractor, construction manager, or design-build firm.
  • Experience supporting commercial, industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics projects preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, scheduling, RFIs, submittals, and change management.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, or similar construction management software.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a desire to continue growing within project management.

Compensation:
Salary range $70,000-90,000 (based on qualified experience)
