Overview:
The Axel Group is seeking a Cost Estimator for our client’s team. This position supports the estimating and scheduling departments by developing accurate project cost estimates from conceptual design through 100% design completion. The role involves preparing take-offs, costing, labor, and pricing based on client-provided drawings and documentation, ensuring timely delivery of estimates to support project planning and execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform precise quantity surveys and take-offs to estimate costs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services across all trades, ensuring comprehensive coverage of CSI Master Format categories.
  • Provide quality control checks on estimates and mentor junior estimators to promote professional development.
  • Analyze project information to develop budgets from initial concepts through detailed construction documentation.
  • Respond to client inquiries regarding submitted cost estimates.
  • Serve as a resource for project teams requiring quick unit cost data.
  • Cultivate relationships with local vendors and contractors to gather accurate pricing information.
  • Represent the estimating department in project meetings.
  • Manage project timelines to ensure efficient completion of estimates.
  • Coordinate with scheduling teams to verify labor hours are properly documented.
  • Collaborate with design and construction personnel to produce accurate costs and scope of work based on drawings and specifications.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in construction cost estimating, with a strong understanding of project quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
  • Ability to analyze and develop budgets throughout different project phases.
  • Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
  • Ability to mentor junior team members and work effectively within a team.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with vendors and contractors.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with project drawings and specifications.

Compensation:
Salary range up to $160,000.00 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
