Overview

The Axel Group is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to oversee the company’s financial operations for our client out of Monmouth County, NJ. This hands-on role involves managing core accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across various financial processes. The ideal candidate will collaborate with internal teams to enhance financial visibility and support overall operational success.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes
  • Oversee invoicing, collections, and vendor payments
  • Process and accurately manage payroll in compliance with relevant regulations
  • Maintain precise financial records and assist with monthly reporting
  • Develop, implement, and improve accounting controls, processes, and procedures
  • Monitor cash flow, assist with budgeting and financial forecasting
  • Coordinate insurance policies, renewals, and necessary documentation
  • Support general office operations and administrative tasks as needed
  • Work closely with leadership and operations teams to ensure financial transparency across projects
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction, landscaping, or similar industries
  • Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable/Receivable, payroll, and general accounting principles
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar tools
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to develop and implement systems and process improvements
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

Compensation

  • Salary up to $85,000 annually
