The Axel Group is seeking a Superintendent to join our client’s team for projects in the Holyoke, MA area. This well-established, family-owned General Contractor specializes in ground-up multifamily and affordable housing developments. With decades of experience and a strong pipeline of repeat business, the company is known for delivering high-quality, production-style projects while maintaining a strong focus on schedule, safety, and long-term client relationships.

The Superintendent will oversee all field operations and play a key role in driving project success from start to finish. This is a highly field-driven position, ideal for someone experienced in managing subcontractors, maintaining schedules, and coordinating multi-building or multi-unit construction in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily field operations from mobilization through project completion
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and site personnel
  • Maintain project schedule through look-ahead planning and proactive coordination
  • Drive production across wood-frame, multifamily construction projects
  • Partner with Project Managers on RFIs, submittals, and overall project execution
  • Lead site meetings, safety briefings, and subcontractor coordination
  • Monitor progress and resolve field issues in real time
  • Ensure all work meets plans, specifications, and quality standards
  • Coordinate inspections, punch list, and project closeout
  • Maintain relationships with local officials, inspectors, and stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent with a General Contractor
  • Experience with ground-up multifamily, affordable housing, or multi-building projects
  • Strong understanding of scheduling, site logistics, and construction methods
  • Proven ability to manage multiple trades and maintain production schedules
  • Experience with wood-frame / Type V construction preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • OSHA certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license

Compensation:

  • $90,000 – $110,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
