The Axel Group is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our client’s team in Volusia County, Florida. This privately held homebuilder, based on Florida’s east coast, specializes in the design and construction of custom and semi-custom residential properties. In addition to homebuilding, the organization is involved in land development and master-planned communities, with a strong presence in lifestyle-focused neighborhoods. The company emphasizes quality craftsmanship, energy efficiency, and a strong customer experience throughout the building process. The Accounting Clerk will support the organization’s financial operations by managing accounts receivable functions, including billing, collections, and payment processing, while also providing general administrative support. This role requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate professionally.
Onboard new customers and maintain accurate customer files and tracking systems
Prepare and distribute invoices in a timely manner and post payments (checks, ACH, wire, credit cards) to appropriate accounts
Monitor accounts receivable, reconcile customer accounts, and research discrepancies
Assist with collections efforts and support month-end close activities related to accounts receivable
Respond to customer inquiries regarding invoices, statements, and account balances, and coordinate with internal departments to resolve billing issues
Maintain accurate records of accounts receivable transactions and organized electronic and physical filing systems
Provide general administrative support, including data entry, reporting, document preparation, and coordination of correspondence and internal communications
Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field preferred
1+ years of accounts receivable experience
Experience handling collections or customer billing
Experience with accounting or ERP systems (e.g., Jonas, ADP, QuickBooks, or similar) preferred
Experience in property management, hospitality, or multi-entity environments is an added plus
