The Axel Group is seeking an Estimator to join our client's team out of Prince George's County, Maryland. This well-established specialty subcontractor specializes in restoration work including waterproofing, building envelope, glazing, and concrete and masonry on large-scale commercial, industrial, and healthcare projects throughout the Greater DC metro area. Known for its strong project pipeline and impressive growth trajectory, the company has doubled its revenue over the last five years and continues to expand through strategic acquisitions and a growing client base. Trusted by top general contractors in the region, our client has built a reputation for delivering complex exterior restoration scopes at a level of professionalism that sets them apart in the specialty contracting space. The Estimator is responsible for managing the full estimating process from preconstruction through bid submission, working closely with project managers and leadership to ensure accurate, competitive, and well-supported proposals.

• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications for waterproofing, concrete, masonry, glazing, and building envelope scopes
• Develop comprehensive cost analyses including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
• Prepare and submit accurate, competitive bids and project budgets
• Solicit, review, and negotiate pricing from vendors and subcontractors
• Participate in preconstruction meetings and collaborate with project managers to transition estimates into executable project plans
• Analyze project scope, drawings, and specs to identify risks, exclusions, and clarifications prior to bid submission
• Maintain and develop relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and general contractor contacts
• Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and ensure estimates reflect field realities
• Track and manage multiple bids simultaneously across active project pursuits
• Support project teams during buyout and procurement phases as needed

Requirements:

• 3+ years of estimating experience within a specialty subcontractor environment
• Background in one or more of the following is required: waterproofing, concrete and masonry, restoration, glazing, or building envelope work
• Proven experience performing independent quantity takeoffs and full cost analysis
• Track record of managing the estimating process from preconstruction through bid submission
• Experience negotiating vendor and subcontractor contracts and pricing
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
• Degree not required, hands on, blue collar background strongly preferred
• Proficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam, On Screen Takeoff, or similar preferred
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites throughout the Greater DC metro area
