Superintendent – Retail Construction

We are seeking a Superintendent with strong retail construction experience to oversee and coordinate projects from ground-up builds to interior fit-outs for national brands. Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day field operations on retail construction projects (ground-up and interior fit-outs)
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and inspections to maintain project schedules
• Drive aggressive timelines typical of retail and restaurant projects, including after-hours and weekend work
• Conduct 2–5 week lookaheads and proactively identify and resolve scheduling conflicts
• Ensure all work meets quality standards, plans, and specifications
• Maintain a strong jobsite presence with a focus on safety and OSHA compliance
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, and tenants to minimize disruption in active retail environments
• Lead site meetings and maintain accurate project documentation and reporting

Required Skills:

• Proven experience as a Superintendent in retail, restaurant, or commercial construction
• Strong leadership and ability to manage multiple trades in fast-paced environments
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings
• Solid understanding of OSHA standards and jobsite safety practices
• Proficiency with construction management software and scheduling tools

Nice to Have:

• Experience with national retail rollouts, big box stores, or quick-service restaurants (QSR)
• Familiarity with open-store remodels and phased construction
• Knowledge of local building codes, permits, and inspections
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; trade or technical education preferred
• 5+ years of Superintendent or lead supervisory experience in retail or commercial construction
• Demonstrated experience working with subcontractors across multiple trades

Additional Requirements:

• Willingness to travel to job sites as needed (regional projects)
• Valid driver’s license
• OSHA 30 certification preferred
