The Axel Group is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our client’s team out of Morris County, New Jersey. This award-winning provides value-driven engineering services to owners, developers, and the construction industry – their services include geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, and environmental consulting.
The ideal candidate will support the design and coordination of land development projects. This role is well-suited for recent graduates and early-career professionals interested in gaining hands-on experience in civil/site engineering across a variety of project types.
Assist with the preparation of site civil engineering design plans, reports, and specifications for land development, commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects
Perform design tasks related to grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility layout, roadways, and erosion control
Conduct engineering calculations including stormwater modeling, earthwork quantities, and hydraulic/hydrologic analysis
Draft design documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D (or other applicable software)
Compile and draft technical reports, permit applications, and supporting documentation for local, state, and federal agencies
Coordinate project work with survey, landscape architecture, environmental, transportation, and structural teams
Support project managers with design deliverables, QA/QC reviews, and responses to comments
Research local codes, ordinances, and design standards to support project requirements
Participate in internal design meetings and occasional client coordination meetings
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
0 – 4 years of site civil/land development design experience
Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred
Familiarity with stormwater, grading, and utility design principles
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
