Job Title: Construction Superintendent
Location: Annapolis, Maryland
FLSA Classification: Fulltime, Salary Exempt

We’re seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to take the lead on a fast-paced project in Annapolis, MD over the next 12 weeks. This individual will be responsible for ensuring seamless day-to-day operations on site—keeping subcontractors aligned, managing material deliveries and installations, and maintaining clear project documentation.

This Construction Superintendent will be on site Monday through Friday, acting as the central point of coordination for all field activities. This includes overseeing scheduling, quality control, and safety compliance, while driving the project forward to meet critical deadlines and budget targets.

The ideal candidate will bring prior experience managing commercial, restaurant, or light industrial construction projects, and should be comfortable providing hands-on direction in the field. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

Job Summary

The Contract Construction Superintendent oversees all field operations on assigned projects, ensuring compliance with construction documents, safety standards, schedules, and company values. This role requires real-time coordination of field activities, supervision of subcontractors, and proactive problem-solving to keep projects on time and within budget.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily job site construction activities; ensure adherence to plans, specifications, safety, and quality standards.
  • Open and close job sites daily, ensuring safety protocols and site security procedures are followed.
  • Develop and adjust project schedules to meet critical milestones and overall deadlines.
  • Coordinate effectively with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to maintain project momentum.
  • Monitor project budgets and identify cost savings opportunities while preventing overruns.
  • Track delivery dates and manage critical path materials and equipment.
  • Act as the on-site representative of the company, modeling its values in all client and subcontractor interactions.
  • Maintain and update all project documentation, including daily reports, drawings, safety logs, and change orders.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce safety protocols.
  • Identify and proactively mitigate job site risks.
  • Oversee punch list completion and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Deep understanding of the construction process including scheduling, contract administration, and workforce/equipment coordination.
  • Knowledge of current construction safety regulations with a commitment to enforcing jobsite safety.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and construction documents.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and project management platforms.
  • Experience managing construction projects—preferably commercial, restaurant, or light retail.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to navigate and inspect job sites in all weather conditions.
  • Physical activities include walking, climbing ladders/lifts, bending, stretching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in environments requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be available to respond to job site emergencies, delays, and weather-related issues, including outside of regular business hours.
  • Travel to job sites is required.
