The Axel Group is seeking a REMOTE Water Resources Engineer to join our client’s team! Our client’s goal is to use nature to restore nature, creating a world in which the natural environment and humankind thrive. The Water Resources Engineer with work with a multidisciplinary team to utilize design concepts and principles of water resources and stormwater engineering in project development.

*** While the position is remote, this individual must live within the states of Maryland, Virginia, or Delaware, in order to travel to job sites ***
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of environmental scientists, restoration designers and construction specialists in the application, design and permitting of ecological restorations and stormwater BMPs
  • Design and review construction drawings, develop construction cost estimates, and other related tasks
  • Independently prepare and review design calculations and reports, hydrologic and hydraulic (1D and 2D) modeling, and floodplain and watershed studies
  • Assist with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for stormwater/restoration projects or programs
  • Preparation and submission of FEMA LOMR and CLOMR
  • Ensure that all work is being performed in compliance with the company’s protocols
Qualifications:
  • BS in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Maryland, Virginia, or Delaware
  • 3-7 years of experience in water resources engineering with an emphasis on ecological restoration
  • Experience with stormwater design is an added plus
  • Proficiency in the development of in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using software such as WinTR-20, WinTR-55, QtHydro, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), and TUFLOW
  • Advanced knowledge of stream and wetland restoration design
  • Significant knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation
  • Proficiency with federal, state, and local stormwater and floodplain permitting and experience in obtaining various permits
